What to do in Montreal this weekend?

Thursday November 24th, 2022, 9:15 PM

2022 brings the return, without any restrictions, of the Montreal Book Fair. It's a chance to meet your favorite author and/or discover exciting local reads - a fun way to replenish your library.

This year, the fair innovates by setting up a Braindate book club. The latter will provide a space for readers to get together to discuss a proposed topic or to talk about their latest readings, their favorite authors, and many other topics related to reading. To participate, all you have to do is register in advance.

Every day from 9 am to 8 pm - and until 4 pm on Sunday - multiple meetings and signing sessions are planned with all the authors present at this edition. The scope and diversity of these sessions will allow everyone to have the opportunity to meet their favorite author.

OUR TEAM'S RECOMMENDATION

Une femme extraordinaire, by Catherine Ethier

"In English, a particle of glitter is called a "scintilla," a word that also translates to "sparkle," but it's less pretty. An extraordinary woman carries the story of scintillas, off glitter. Damaged ones. Some who shine too much. Some spread out, caught between the cracks in the hardwood and the sweeper won't kiss, even though, from above, it glitters. These things happen."

Don't let the first few pages confuse you. Heavy themes such as prejudice, overly high expectations of personalities, money, and death are addressed in a light-hearted way that makes us laugh until we cry at times, thanks to some delightful analogies and metaphors as extraordinary as the narrator.

And you, what is your favorite book and/or author?
