We're delighted to present a new edition of our series dedicated to our members, their projects and their personalized plans at La Halte. This week, we highlight Tinka Markham Piper, a self defined "chaos counselor'', who founded her own buisness - Solve my space - more than a decade ago.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and explain what your field of work entails?
I’m a trained social worker and public health practitioner with 15 years of experience in mental health and research, including emergency management, suicide prevention, and urban epidemiology. In 2012, I founded my business, Solve My Space, to combine my clinical and project management skills and become a “chaos counselor.” I help individuals and families create order and emotional well-being in their homes, working with clients worldwide, both in person and remotely. My approach blends practical strategies—like decluttering, organizing, and redesigning—with an understanding of the emotional and psychological hurdles that can make these tasks feel overwhelming. The ultimate goal is to help people feel calmer, more in control, and deeply connected to their homes and lives.

Why did you choose a coworking space rather than another type of office?
I absolutely love my HALTE days! A coworking space offers the perfect balance of community, flexibility, and focus for my work. My role is very action-oriented and physical, so it’s invaluable to have a place where I can dedicate time to thinking, research, and writing. Being surrounded by other entrepreneurs and creative thinkers at HALTE is incredibly inspiring, and it has truly become a home away from home. Coworking also reflects the principles I teach my clients about creating functional, adaptable spaces—it’s like experiencing those concepts in action every day.

Tell us a bit about your work, your background, and what motivated you in your career.
My background in social work and public health has given me a deep understanding of the connection between our physical environments and our emotional well-being. I’ve always been passionate about helping people navigate life’s complexities, and Solve My Space was born from that desire. Over the years, I’ve seen how overwhelming physical spaces can contribute to feelings of being stuck or stressed, often affecting other areas of life. My work is about more than tidying up—it’s about uncovering what truly works for each client and creating systems that support their needs. It’s about building homes that feel good and function well.

Can you share some details about your current projects?
Over the past five years, I’ve been focused on building an online supportive community that offers a safe and encouraging space to tackle home-related challenges together. A cornerstone of this effort is hosting monthly "Declutter Parties" and "Get It Done" sessions. These events combine skill-building with a sense of accountability and community, allowing participants to work on projects side by side. I also offer a 6-week program called Vitamin D-clutter, designed to help participants build sustainable habits for home organization and achieve meaningful progress. This program focuses on small, actionable steps and provides the support needed to make lasting changes. Through education, connection, and practical guidance, I aim to empower people to transform both their spaces and their lives.

What are your aspirations and plans for the coming years?
In the coming years, I plan to expand Solve My Space to reach an even broader audience. This includes enhancing my online presence, launching additional virtual workshops, and collaborating with thought leaders in the field of emotional health. A key focus is my book project, which I’m actively working on. HALTE provides the perfect environment for deep thinking and creative energy, which has been essential for this endeavor. My vision is to continue empowering people to create homes that support their well-being, one step at a time.
