Welcome to our series highlighting members of Halte 24-7 Coworking and their customized plans. This week, we introduce you to The Resource Center of Troisième Avenue, a member of Halte since September 2021! Today, we have the pleasure of talking with Safa Chebbi, Program Coordinator.

Introduction to Troisième Avenue:

Troisième Avenue is a non-profit organization established in 1974 by educators and popular educators. It is the only center of expertise in citizen participation in schools in Quebec. The organization supports groups of parents and youth in the heart of educational change, promoting greater social justice.

The organization implements popular education programs, providing animation, training, and consultation services to other organizations or individuals working in the same field. Additionally, they write educational texts and develop multimedia resources distributed in Montreal and Canada.

Why did you choose a coworking space rather than another type of office?

We were looking for a space that would allow us to connect with others while having access to the necessary resources for our office. Coworking is ideal for this!

Tell us a bit about your role in the organization and your motivation to join.

Initially, I worked as a project manager, and currently, I oversee the coordination of the organization. As a parent, school is a central place in our lives after family—a place for socialization and citizen participation. My knowledge of Troisième Avenue comes from my involvement in the community and advocacy. The values of Troisième Avenue, focused on the challenges of student and youth participation, resonate deeply with me.

Do you have any ongoing projects?

Currently, we are involved in an education-focused project titled "Parent en action." It includes aspects such as video production, active participation of parents over the past two years, and the creation of a series of workshops. The goal is to highlight parents as key actors in the project, with our support in the form of workshops. We aspire to design a school without discrimination by addressing issues such as school challenges, community participation, discrimination issues, and providing the necessary tools to address them. We are also producing a report on the project, accompanied by recommendations to implement in school environments.

Taking advantage of a large conference room bank proves convenient for their meetings and work sessions. Recently, to conclude their 2-year project, they organized a shoot that took place in our spaces.
