What to do in Montreal during the holiday season?

As the holidays approach, Montreal offers a multitude of activities that will delight visitors of all ages. The big city has everything you need to make your festive season unforgettable and filled with happiness!


Here is a list of activities recommended and approved by our team:

- Ice skating:
Enjoy the winter wonders at Mount Royal Park. Skating is a must-have experience, and there are many rinks throughout the city, making the activity quite accessible. If it's your first time, it's never too late to learn!

- Festivals:
Despite the low temperatures, the cold doesn't slow down the bustling pace of festivals in Montreal. From the Montreal en lumière festival to Igloofest and the Fête des neiges de Montréal, the city offers a variety of events accompanied by multicultural gastronomy.

- Visit the Christmas markets:
at the Grand Christmas Market at Place des Arts from November 25 to December 30, 2023, you can buy garlands, gifts, and taste all kinds of Christmas cakes. The Christmas village, from November 30 to December 24, 2023, is another Christmas market to visit. The decorations and festive atmosphere make us extremely joyful!

- The Santa Claus Parade, starting on November 19
, marks the beginning of the festivities with decorated floats parading along Sainte-Catherine Street. The Christmas Village offers a warm experience with hot drinks, outdoor activities, performances, and an opportunity for local shopping at the Grand Christmas Market, open from November 26 to December 18. A dazzling celebration not to be missed.

- The belvedere of Mount Royal Park offers a spectacular view of Montreal. Take a ride on the Grande Roue de Montreal in Old Port for a 360-degree view of the city. Additionally, you can explore Christmas concerts and shows, from The Nutcracker by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal to The Sound of Music at Théâtre St-Denis.

- Montreal is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities when it comes to Christmas decorations. The city is full of neighborhoods that will enchant you. If you're looking to immerse yourself in a festive and joyful atmosphere, or if you're seeking decoration ideas for next year, you'll find a very joyful atmosphere in Old Port, Atwater Market, and the narrow streets of Montreal.

- A list of planned events: Christmas in Montreal, from December 18 to 24, dive into the magic of Christmas every evening by discovering the fabulous story of the Elf Kingdom. The Grand Féérique Circuit de Montreal offers an extraordinary experience to rediscover the magic of the holidays in every neighborhood of the city. L'Orangerie is a Christmas cabaret par excellence, offering a warm space where visitors can relax, enjoy a drink, and attend a jazz concert in a festive atmosphere! L'Orangerie can accommodate about 150 people, providing an intimate and friendly experience to celebrate the holidays.
