You may already be familiar with the Montreal Book Fair. Near its 50th year, it is considered the largest Francophone literary event in North America. Brighten up your days in November with a new book or an activity organised in honour of this event! Here is a brief overview of what it has to offer.
At the convention centre
For five days, from 19 to 23 November, the Montreal Convention Centre welcomes you with a packed programme. On the agenda: around 300 activities for all ages and tastes, as well as 2,000 authors and their literary works just waiting to be discovered. Whether you're looking for children's books, romance novels or essays on a variety of topics, there's sure to be a book for you and your loved ones. Not to mention the opportunity to participate in creative workshops, discussions with authors and publishers, and more.
All over the city
However, the Montreal Book Fair extends beyond the walls of the convention centre. Throughout most of November, enjoy a wide range of activities across the city, organised by publishing houses and other cultural organisations. Check to see if a cultural centre near you is offering an activity as part of the Book Fair: the answer is probably yes. Book signings, round tables, workshops, storytelling sessions: there's something for everyone. And most activities are free.
You may even see a familiar face at the convention centre and in your neighbourhood! One of our members, Sophie Laurin, will be there to present her recently published book, On le dira pas à nos enfants.
In short, the Montreal Book Fair is a cultural event not to be missed. Enrich your November by taking advantage of this opportunity to learn more about literature from here and elsewhere.
